...if a friend of yours who you rely on starts dissapointing you repeatedly, do you wait it out and put up with it in the hope that it's just a phase or cut off ties immediately? Think about it. Answers to the usual comments section.

OK it kinda depends how long you have known the friend, how long they have been reliable, are they going through anything now to make them unreliable, and are their talents worth waiting for? Are they really worth it?
Do they seem sincere when they apologize for cancelling, are they even apologizing?
Are their excuses lame?
And how much do you value their friendship?
